The Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) launches public calls for applications for a project to promote the introduction of consumer-driven PV power generation and storage batteries installed alongside renewable energy power sources as part of the second supplementary budget project for fiscal 2022 of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) . \u3000<\/p>\n

The requirements for consumer-driven solar power generation include: new non-FIT\/non-FIP facilities with a total capacity of 2 MW or more to be installed to supply electricity to specific consumers, with a unit cost of less than 236,000 yen\/kW (AC basis), the start of operation by February 29, 2024, and the conclusion of a contract to use 70% or more of total electricity for at least eight years. In addition, starting with the second supplementary budget for FY2022, storage batteries installed at PV power generation facilities are also eligible for subsidies. However, when storage batteries are installed, it is necessary to supply electricity using the installed storage batteries as much as possible during times of tight electricity supply and demand. \u3000<\/span><\/p>\n

The installation of storage batteries with renewable energy power sources will be supported on the condition that the project is a FIP-approved project*. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The following are the requirements: the applicant must have received a grid-connection certification from a general transmission and distribution company at the time of application<\/span>; the project must start operation by February 29, 2024; the unit price must be 190,000 yen\/kWh or less; and the storage batteries must be used to supply power as much as possible during times of power supply and demand shortages. \u3000<\/span><\/div>\n

The primary application period is from February 3 to March 24, 2023 for solar power generation and from February 3 to March 31, 2023 for storage batteries. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

* Applicants are eligible if they fall into one of the following categories: 1) transition from FIT to FIP, 2) change a plan that is FIP certified (without storage batteries) to FIP certified (with storage batteries), or 3) obtain new FIP certification.<\/span><\/p>\n
