The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) released information on approved PV project business plans under the FIT and FIP programs* as of June 30, 2022. The cumulative approved PV projects remained stable at a total of 443,861 projects with combined capacity of 63,611 MW. In June 2022 alone, 195 projects with combined capacity of 81,233 kW were approved. The following is the breakdown of approved projects in June by capacity range.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

– 20 kW – < 50 kW: 111 projects (total 4,690 kW)<\/p>\n

– 50 kW – < 500 kW: 57 projects (total 13,254 kW)<\/p>\n

– 500 kW – < 1 MW: 10 projects (total 7,365 kW)<\/p>\n

– 1 MW – < 2 MW: 16 projects (total 25,925 kW)<\/p>\n

– \u2265 2 MW: 1 project (29,999 kW)<\/p>\n

By electric power company service area, the area of Kyushu Electric Power ranks first with seven projects (30,477 kW), followed by the area of Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) with 75 projects (22,913 kW), with the top two areas accounting for 66% of the total. By prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture ranks first (4 projects, 30,129 kW), followed by Shizuoka (15 projects, 8,596 kW), and Hokkaido (4 projects, 6,008 kW) prefectures, with the top three prefectures accounting for 55% of the total. Among the approved projects of 2 MW or more capacity, the largest project is a 29,999-kW project in Fukuoka by Electric Power Development Company (J-POWER). This project was the winner of the 10th tender for PV projects.<\/p>\n

Information on renewable power generation facilities with an output of 20 kW or more are covered, which are either newly approved as of June 30, 2022, or have completed the shift to the new scheme (information on applications for new or change in approval submitted in paper form, and information on prior and post change notifications, etc., as of May 31,
