TEPCO Power Grid, Incorporated is Likely to Conduct Its First-Ever Renewable Energy Output Curtailment in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area in FY 2025, based on the Priority Dispatch Rule.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The decision will be based on the company\u2019s assessment of power supply and demand for the year. According to TEPCO\u2019s calculations, the potential annual output curtailment could reach approximately 2.64 GWh. This estimate is derived from actual power generation data for solar (PV) and wind energy, as well as interconnection line usage in FY 2023.<\/p>\n

The curtailment is expected to take place during periods of low electricity demand, specifically during Japan\u2019s long holiday period in May and in the autumn when pumped storage power generation undergoes inspections. These measures aim to maintain grid stability while integrating more renewable energy sources into the power system.<\/p>\n

As Japan continues to expand its renewable energy capacity, balancing supply and demand remains a critical challenge. The implementation of output curtailment underscores the need for enhanced grid flexibility, energy storage solutions, and interregional power exchange to maximize the utilization of clean
