Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mitsui Fudosan has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Hiroshima International Airport to install, own, and operate a solar carport (a parking lot-based solar power facility) at Hiroshima Airport, and completed its construction in November 2023. \u3000Since July 2021, Hiroshima International Airport has been operated by a private company under a concession model, with Mitsui Fudosan as the largest shareholder.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The system, a 2.6 MW carport-type PV facility, which is one of the largest power generation capacities at any airport in Japan, is located in the parking lots of the airport, and is expected to generate 2,700 MWh of electricity annually.\u00a0 The generated power is supplied to the Hiroshima Airport terminal building, reducing the airport’s CO2 emissions by 1,450 tons\/year, which equates to a 19% reduction in emissions. The generated power can also be used to enhance the airport\u2019s resilience by supplying power to the passenger terminal during disasters and providing external power through independent outlets in case of a power outage.<\/p>\n

In FY 2021, Hiroshima Airport was selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as a \u201cPriority Survey Airport\u201d to explore measures for reducing CO2 emissions from airport facilities and vehicles, and has been working on decarbonization initiatives.<\/p>\n

Going forward, the airport will continue to promote decarbonization initiatives such as the further introduction of renewable energy, the introduction of EV vehicles, and the installation of energy-saving equipment.<\/p>\n
