Panasonic Holdings Corporation announced that it has developed the prototype of a perovskite solar cell for BIPV (building integrated photovoltaics) and started the long-term implemenntation demonstration project including technical tests lasting more than one year for the first time in the world. The prototype was installed in a newly built model house \u201dFINECOURT” in the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (Fujisawa SST) in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan under collaboration with Mitsui Fudosan Residential Co.<\/p>\n

Gradient transparent perovskite solar cells in a gradation pattern (fine lattice pattern) are placed on the 3,876mm wide x 950mm high glass handrail on the second floor balcony. We plan to conduct technical verification of power generation performance and durability due to long-term installation until November 2024, along with a design that achieves both blinding and translucency. Panasonic’s glass-integrated perovskite solar cells aim to be used in a variety of buildings as a “power-generating glass” building material, which is realized by directly forming a power-generating layer on a glass substrate. By combining the company’s unique inkjet coating method with laser processing technology, we have increased the degree of freedom in terms of size, transparency, design, etc., and are also able to respond to customization.<\/p>\n

Transmissive perovskite solar cells in gradation pattern with fine lattidce are placed on the glass balustrade on the second floor balcony, which is 3,876 mm wide by 950 mm high. Along with the design that achieves both blindfoldability and transparency, technical verification of power generation performance and durability through long-term installation is scheduled to be conducted until November 2024.<\/p>\n

Panasonic’s BIPV perovskite solar cells aim to be used in a variety of buildings as a “Energy-Generating Glass” building material, which is realized by directly forming a power-generating layer directly on a glass substrate. By combining the company’s proprietary ink-jet coating method with laser processing technology, the degree of freedom in terms of size, transparency, design, etc., is increased and it also enables to respond to customization needs. In addition to research and development, demonstration projects and plans have for the development of perovskite solar cells are beginning to be announced. The green innovation fund project “Development of next-generation solar cells” being implemented by the Japan government currently has an additional budget of 15 billion yen for the entire development, including the demonstration of perovskite solar cells , is currently under consideration in order to accelerate the realization of social implementation. Applications for the field demonstration phase will be open to the public from FY2023 onwards, and it will be a requirement for solar cell development manufacturers participating in the project to collaborate with users (developers, general contractors, consumers,
